If you're a seafood lover and looking for a healthy and flavorful grilled dish, then this recipe for smoked salmon and asparagus is perfect for you. The smoky and tangy flavors of the salmon pair perfectly with the tender and slightly charred asparagus. This recipe is easy to prepare and makes for a satisfying meal.

Ingredients:

  • 4 salmon fillets, skin-on

  • 1 pound asparagus

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

  • 1 tablespoon smoked paprika

  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder

  • 1 tablespoon onion powder

  • 1 teaspoon salt

  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper

  • Wood chips for smoking (cedar or alder)

Instructions:

  1. Soak the wood chips in water for at least 30 minutes before grilling.

  2. Preheat your grill to 225°F (107°C) using indirect heat. If using a gas grill, light the burners on one side of the grill only. If using a charcoal grill, pile the charcoal on one side of the grill.

  3. In a small bowl, mix together the olive oil, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper to make a dry rub.

  4. Rinse the salmon fillets under cold water and pat dry with paper towels. Season both sides of the salmon fillets generously with the dry rub.

  5. Snap off the woody ends of the asparagus and toss with olive oil, salt, and pepper.

  6. Once the grill is heated up, place the asparagus on the side of the grill without heat. Add a handful of wood chips on top of the coals or in the smoker box of your gas grill.

  7. Place the salmon fillets, skin-side down, on the side of the grill with heat.

  8. Close the lid of the grill and let the salmon and asparagus smoke for 20-25 minutes, or until the salmon is cooked through and the asparagus is tender and slightly charred.

  9. Remove the salmon and asparagus from the grill and serve immediately.

Tips:

  • Use a meat thermometer to ensure the salmon is cooked to the correct temperature. It should be 145°F (63°C) in the thickest part.

  • You can substitute other vegetables like zucchini or bell peppers for the asparagus.

  • Experiment with different wood chips for different flavor profiles.

This recipe for smoky grilled salmon and asparagus is a perfect healthy meal option for seafood lovers. It's a simple yet flavorful recipe that's easy to prepare and sure to impress. Enjoy!
